Creative Counselling
Julie Cunningham
About me.
My Creative Counselling draws from my life working in visual art and media, my experience in Transpersonal Art Therapy, my Masters of Fine Arts research, now melded with counselling.
In conjunction with counselling therapies, creativity is a powerful pathway for healing to be facilitated.
Fascination and engagement with creativity and its healing effects have been with me throughout my adult life. Creativity helped me work through and deepen from life's "curve balls".
Helping people creatively work through their psychological blocks to discover and develop their strengths and potential, gives me great satisfaction.
In my early career I was an animator and animation director. I've researched and written for film, been a graphic designer and TAFE teacher in visual art and media subjects. Themes I explored in my media projects were often psychological in nature and/or about women.
Our interior lives impact all levels of our exterior lives and flow out into culture influencing how we navigate the past present and future. In this work together you make the breakthroughs, while I help facilitate and guide your healing process.

In my Masters of Fine Arts I researched the work of a doctor who'd integrated his immunology and psychotherapy practice and how physical conditions can at times be healed through talking therapy. Moving image work included a documentary short which visually elaborated on an interview I conducted with an ex patient of the doctor's.
